I think now is a pretext for a national day, as the 4th July or at the Australia Day

(George is probably from the Middle East, of course, come, never came to England. It was as accepted a saint by Richard 1, during the Crusades. There is a precedent of Nice, really, before he was a saint "real" English - St Edmund - as in Bury St Edmunds)

I just read the "true" story of George - no dragons - that is really terrible!

According to Catholic doctrine, the saints who have died and are now in heaven with Christ and have received the recognition of the Church of outstanding holiness and virtue. The Tridentine Creed states that the saints as intercessors with God and so many relics of saints and images of saints are honored to be invoked. Other religions also rely on the help of the saints. Some religions teach that all members are holy and are free from sin
Convinced that the "saints" can give special power to those who believe, millions of them, relying on the venerated relics or as advocates.
Jesus himself has clearly ruled out any role as an intermediary for the other in the sky when he told his disciples that "no one comes to the Father Except by me "and some years later died after he and other Christians suffered martyrdom, the Bible has always maintained that" there is one mediator between God and man, man himself, Jesus Christ. John 14:6, 13, 1 Tim. 2:5

For some, yes.

For others, there is a wealth of interesting background, but harmless, such as the opening day of the week after the Norse gods. It is also a national holiday.

Note how St. Patrick's Day is more about fun, beer and sports, with the religious aspect does not seem to be much in those days.

It is good, though not necessary to have a patron saint.
There is only one way to have someone who comes to God for you.

It was the Christian way of appealing to the Gentiles ... Catholics and Orthodox Christians celebrate the saints only.
